SIL Support for Acquired Brain Injury
An acquired brain injury can change life in an instant. At Peak Care Services, we provide SIL support for an acquired brain injury that's built around the person, their goals, their routines and the level of support they actually need, not a one-size-fits-all model.
Understanding Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
An acquired brain injury (ABI) is any damage to the brain that happens after birth. It's not something a person is born with - it's acquired, often suddenly, through events like a stroke, a traumatic accident, a lack of oxygen to the brain, infection or substance-related harm.
No two brain injuries are the same, and neither are their effects. For some people, ABI affects memory, concentration, or the ability to process information. For others, it changes communication, mobility, behavior, or emotional regulation. Many people experience a combination of these challenges, which can make everyday tasks: cooking a meal, getting dressed, catching up with friends, etc. far more difficult than they once were.
Acquired brain injury and associated neurocognitive changes can impact a person's daily life and independence, which is why access to the right NDIS funded supports and services can play an important role in helping them live confidently and as independently as possible.
How Peak Care Can Support?
Peak Care Services is a registered provider specialising in complex disability support, including dedicated care for people living with acquired brain injury. We work with participants, families and support coordinators to design supports that are practical, consistent and genuinely person-centred.
Day-to-day assistance
We support participants with the everyday activities that make up a full life, from personal routines and household tasks to staying on top of appointments and responsibilities. Our goal is always to build independence, not replace it.
Community Access
Staying connected matters. We help participants get out into their community, attend appointments, take part in social activities and keep doing the things they enjoy, whether that's a weekly sports group, a coffee catch-up or simply getting to the shops with confidence.
SIL support for people with Acquired Brain Injury
For many people with ABI, supported independent living for ABI offers the structure and consistency needed to live well at home. Our SIL support is tailored to each participant's needs, abilities, daily routines and NDIS goals, with the right level of support at the right time, and space to build skills where possible.
Our SIL for acquired brain injury may include:
Assistance with personal care, such as showering, dressing and toileting
Assistance with household tasks, including cleaning, meal preparation and laundry
Active overnight and/or sleepover support
