Understanding TAC Support

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is part of Victoria’s no-fault compensation scheme. This means that if you are injured in a transport accident, you may be able to access funding for reasonable medical treatment, rehabilitation and support services related to your accident injuries, regardless of who was at fault.

TAC may help pay for a range of treatments and services when they are recommended by a doctor or health professional and are related to your transport accident injuries. The TAC lists services such as community nursing, rehabilitation services, support at home, attendant care, post-acute support and supported accommodation as services that may be available depending on the client’s situation and approval requirements.

We support clients during and after hospital discharge by working closely with hospitals and allied health professionals to create a personalised care plan. Our post-acute support may include community nursing, personal care and home care to help make the transition from hospital to home safer, smoother and more comfortable.

24/7 Complex Care and Rehabilitation Support

For those with specialised medical needs, we offer 24/7 care, as well as support for hospital discharge, respite, and medium/long-term accommodation stays to ease the transition back home.
